Bros Before Lows Facilitator
Volunteer Opportunity: Peer Support Facilitator
Organization: Bros Before Lows
Location: Remote / Online
Start Date: August 2026 (Training begins immediately)
Time Commitment: Fully flexible—you choose your own hours and how often you want to hold space.
Where Brotherhood Meets Purpose
Bros Before Lows is looking for dedicated men and women ready to step into leadership. We do not need experts, gurus, or fixers—we need anchors.
Our mission is simple: to create a grounded environment where individuals can drop their armor, speak their truth, and heal through community. We serve as a strategic stepping stone, helping participants reconnect with professional clinical support systems at their own pace.
The Role: What It Means to Be an Anchor
As a Peer Support Facilitator, your primary job is to hold the container, not to repair the people inside it. You will oversee a 2-hour support circle strictly capped at 12 participants, ensuring the space remains secure, structured, and safe. Because we value your time and energy, your facilitation schedule is entirely up to you.
Your Core Responsibilities:
- Steady Grounding: Lead a 5-minute opening (e.g., silent minute, box breathing) to anchor the room.
- Time Management: Enforce the 5-minute sharing frame and 2.5-minute feedback reels to ensure no one is left behind.
- Respectful Witnessing: Listen actively without trying to diagnose, judge, or change anyone's reality.
- Boundary-Setting: Steer the group away from giving direct advice, fixing, or engaging in toxic talk about professional therapy.
- Emergency Navigation: Recognize red flags and calmly utilize our crisis protocols and national resource referrals when immediate safety is a concern.
The Facilitator Mindset
Holding space requires immense presence and the ability to leave your own weekly struggles at the door. To protect the integrity of our circles, we ask facilitators to operate by these strict guidelines:
What We Need (The Anchor)What We Do Not Need (The Fixer)Shares personal lived experiences to relate.Gives direct advice or tells people what to do.Allows silence to breathe when emotions arise.Rushes to fill sudden pauses out of discomfort.Gently pivots "jokers" or "talkers" to keep balance.Lets one participant monopolize the circle's time.Recognizes when a participant needs professional help.Attempts to act as a therapist or clinical professional.⚠️ Important: Safety Standards & Certification
To ensure the absolute highest standard of care, we have paused all live support groups until August. Before holding space for us, all facilitators must meet our new baseline certification standards.
Required Training:
- ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training)
- CMHA (Canadian Mental Health Association) Mental Health and Safety Certificate
The Bros Before Lows Reimbursement Promise: We believe in investing in our anchors. Once you have completed these certifications and successfully held space with us for 3 months, Bros Before Lows will fully reimburse your certification costs.
Ready to Hold the Line?
If you have the personal readiness to be a steady anchor during emotional storms and want to upgrade your training to support others, we want to hear from you.
