Please contact info@circularinnovation.ca to request a nomination form.
We’re looking for people who bring experience, ideas, influence and a willingness to challenge the status quo — leaders who understand that building a circular economy requires new approaches to how we design, produce, procure, use and recover resources.
As a CIC director, you’ll help:
- Challenge conventional thinking about how Canada creates and captures value;
- Shape national strategy and CIC’s priorities for the years ahead;
- Advance practical solutions that move circular economy concepts into the marketplace and communities;
- Build connections across sectors and help unlock new partnerships, investment and innovation; and
- Strengthen Canada’s capacity to make circularity a driver of economic, environmental and social value.
Key Competencies We’re Seeking
To strengthen the Board’s ability to guide CIC through its next phase of growth, we are specifically looking for candidates who bring expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Fundraising & Strategic Partnerships — A well-established network across business, government and philanthropy, and a track record of using those relationships to secure sustainable funding, sponsorships and partnerships that grow CIC’s impact.
- Financial Stewardship & Oversight — The ability to read financial statements, budgets and forecasts with confidence, and to provide sound oversight of CIC’s financial health, risk and long-term sustainability.
- Governance — Knowledge of non-profit board best practices, including strategic oversight, board policies, accountability and the distinction between governance and management.
- Legal — Legal training or experience, particularly in non-profit, corporate, contract or regulatory matters, to help the Board navigate its obligations and manage legal risk.
Candidates are encouraged to clearly describe their experience in these priority competencies in their nomination. Nominees who bring other skills and perspectives aligned with CIC’s mission are also welcome to apply.
