Join the Ottawa Parent Resource Centre Board of Directors and Help Shape the Future for Ottawa's Children, Youth and Families

As the Ottawa Parent Resource Centre (PRC) celebrates 50 years of supporting children, youth and families, we are looking for passionate, community-minded leaders to join our volunteer Board of Directors and help shape our next chapter.
Since 1976, PRC has been empowering families through high-quality early learning programs, parenting education, family support services, and community partnerships that foster healthy child development, strengthen parenting confidence, and build more connected communities across Ottawa.
As a member of our Board of Directors, you will help guide the organization's strategic direction, ensure strong governance and financial stewardship, and champion PRC's mission of supporting families when they need it most.
We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds and are particularly interested in individuals with experience in:
- Law / Legal
- Early Childhood Education
- Social Work / Psychology
- Communications and Marketing
- Governance
- Fundraising and Philanthropy
- Community Partnerships
- Risk Management
- Strategic Planning
- Non-profit Leadership
What You'll Do
As a member of the Board of Directors, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and governance to advance PRC's mission and long-term sustainability.
- Review and approve organizational policies, annual budgets and audited financial statements.
- Participate actively in Board and committee meetings, contributing to thoughtful discussion and informed decision-making.
- Monitor organizational performance and support continuous improvement through oversight of programs, services and strategic priorities.
- Support and provide accountability to the Executive Director through effective governance.
- Serve as an ambassador for PRC by promoting our mission and building relationships within the community.
- Help identify opportunities for partnerships, advocacy and sustainable funding.
- Serve on at least one Board committee.
- Commit approximately 6–10 volunteer hours per month.
The Board meets seven times per year, with committee meetings held as needed. Directors serve a two-year term and may be reappointed for a maximum of six consecutive years.
