Brock Early Learning Centre is seeking dedicated and engaged volunteers to join our Board of Directors.

Our Board plays an important role in providing governance, oversight, and strategic direction to the Centre. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about children and families and who are interested in contributing their skills, experience, and perspective to a community-based child care organization.

About the Role

As a volunteer Director, you will work collaboratively with the Board and Executive Director to:

• Provide strategic direction and governance oversight for the organization
• Support the long-term sustainability and success of the Centre
• Review and oversee organizational finances and budgets
• Participate in policy development and Board decision-making
• Support effective governance and accountability practices
• Monitor organizational goals, risks, and priorities
• Contribute to discussions around child care, community needs, and organizational planning
• Represent the interests of the Centre and the families and community it serves

Directors are not responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Centre. Operational management is led by the Executive Director and staff team, while the Board focuses on governance, oversight, and strategic direction.

Who We Are Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals who are committed to the success of Brock Early Learning Centre and bring a collaborative, thoughtful approach to Board service.

We are particularly interested in individuals with experience or knowledge in areas such as:

• Finance, accounting, or budgeting
• Governance or non-profit leadership
• Strategic planning
• Fundraising or community development
• Government or community relations
• Business or organizational leadership

You do not need previous Board experience to apply. We value individuals who are willing to learn, ask questions, contribute respectfully, and work as part of a team.

Commitment

Board members are volunteers and are expected to:

• Attend regular Board meetings (Virtual) Once a month (except July and Aug)
• Review meeting materials and financial information in advance
• Participate in Board discussions and decision-making
• Serve on committees or participate in Board initiatives as appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality and act in the best interests of the organization
• Support the mission, values, and long-term sustainability of Brock Early Learning Centre
