Board of Director

Board of Directors | Friends of Allan Gardens

Friends of Allan Gardens is pleased to invite nominations for two volunteer leadership roles on our Board of Directors: Human Resources & Marketing/Fundraiser.

Allan Gardens is at a pivotal moment. The organization is supporting expanded year-round programming, deepening community partnerships, and is on the verge of a transformative greenhouse expansion project that will double the size of the Allan Gardens Conservatory. This once-in-a-generation opportunity will dramatically increase public access to green space, enhance educational programming, and secure the conservatory’s future as a vital civic and cultural asset.

As this work accelerates, we are strengthening our Board with skilled, passionate leaders who can help ensure FOAG has the impeccable governance needed to meet the moment and steward the organization’s future. Our staff team is growing in tandem with our growing impact. We are particularly interested in board members who bring expertise in human resources, marketing and fundraising that can help bring our ambitious and exciting vision to life.

Open Positions

🌿 Fundraiser/Marketer
The Fundraiser/Marketer supports Friends of Allan Gardens’ ability to grow and sustain its impact at a moment of major opportunity. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys connecting people to bold, community-centred projects and helping turn enthusiasm into meaningful support.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting with donor engagement and stewardship
  • Helping identify new fundraising opportunities and partnerships
  • Championing FOAG’s mission within personal and professional networks

Ideal candidates bring experience in marketing and communications and/or fundraising and development. They are a strong and strategic relationship-builder who is enthusiastic about public space, culture, and community.

🌿 Human Resources
This board member will work closely with the Executive Director and its Governance Committee to help guide the development of HR-related policies and programs consistent with FOAG’s values and culture and that are compliant with applicable statutes. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building and well supported strong teams—particularly as the organization prepares for significant capital and programmatic growth.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Providing oversight and strategic guidance pertaining to people management
  • Helping communicate personnel information to the Board
  • Ensuring strong HR practices that support FOAG’s mission and major initiatives

Ideal candidates have experience in human resources, organizational leadership and management, and culture building. Nonprofit or board experience is an asset.
