Black Youth Advisory Council Members

Are you a Black youth in Toronto who wants to make real change in your community? Planned Parenthood Toronto (PPT) is launching a Black Youth Advisory Committee
(BYAC) that will work alongside the Black Health Team — and we’re looking for passionate young people like you to join!

The BYAC will help guide PPT’s Black Health Team by sharing the needs, priorities, and experiences of Black communities across Downtown Toronto, North York, and Scarborough. Your voice will help shape the programs and services at PPT, ensuring they are culturally relevant, accessible, and community-centered.

As a committee member, you will:
• Advise PPT on the needs of Black youth and the barriers that are being faced.
• Give feedback on programs to improve cultural relevancy and accessibility.
• Identify gaps and help shape outreach, advocacy, programming, and evaluation.
• Strengthen connections between PPT and Black communities across the city.
• Participate in various leadership empowerment opportunities.
• Share insights that advance health equity across PPT’s services.

We’re looking for:
• Black youth ages 13–29 years old
• Availability for monthly in-person meetings
• Youth who can commit to a 2-year term

We’re especially looking for:
• Youth from North York, Scarborough and the Downtown Core
• Black 2SLGBTQIA+ youth

As a committee member, you will receive:
• A chance to represent your community and shape real change at Toronto’s only youth-centred community health centre, PPT
• The opportunity to improve programs and services for Black youth in your community
• Leadership empowerment workshops to strengthen skills in health advocacy, community engagement, and systems navigation
• $500 honoraria
• Transportation support, snacks and refreshments
