Adult Day Program Recreation Assistant Volunteer

Position Summary
To assist Adult Day Program staff with the daily recreation activities and workshops/presentations to clients. Setting up and preparation of activity room and materials. Motivating and encouraging client to take part in the activities. Assisting with client transfer when needed.
Potential volunteers must be comfortable with older adults living with cognitive and/or physical limitations.
Additional Information
Initial Volunteer orientation to agency and program; On-the-job shadowing/scheduled training with an experienced volunteer or staff. Coordinator provides on-going support, answer questions and explain policies. Volunteer will be trained to carry out activation programs and working with seniors. An opportunity to become acquainted and socialize with the program participants, working as a team with program staff and other volunteers; The knowledge of playing a vital role in the success of the community services; Gain knowledge of the frail elderly; An invitation to the Annual Volunteer Recognition Event; Letter of Reference (after completion or required duration).

Minimum hours per week
4 hours shifts: in the morning from 8:30am to 12:30pm or afternoon from 12:30pm to 4:00 pm.
