If you advocate for gender equality, are passionate about women’s rights, and share our values of Equality, Empowerment, Solidarity, Inclusiveness, Accountability, and Courage – we want you on our team!SCOPE OF POSITION:Under the direction of the Manager, Finance and Compliance, the General Accountant is responsible for the majority of routine bookkeeping tasks related to Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, overseas reports, and month-end reconciliations, including bank transfers.&nbsp; The General Accountant will assist the Finance Team by handling general queries from staff, and assisting in the year-end audit. They will also be responsible for maintaining the finance filing system.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed):In accordance, with the Oxfam Canada codes, policies, procedures and standards, the incumbent is responsible for:Accounts Payable<ul><li>Process Accounts Payable on a weekly basis, from inputting invoices to processing payments.</li><li>Reconcile corporate credit card accounts and processes payments.</li><li>Maintain Accounts Payable Aging sub-ledger and files.</li></ul>Accounts Receivable<ul><li>Process Accounts Receivables and Accounts Receivable Aging Sub-ledger and files.</li><li>Monitor and reconcile staff advances.</li><li>Prepare bank deposits for all cash receipts on a timely basis.</li></ul>General Accounting<ul><li>Ensure the recording of purchases of goods and services according to the chart of accounts and recording of sales taxes to ensure the accuracy of the information and documents supporting disbursement requests.</li><li>Act as a contact with payment solution providers (management of anomalies, exceptions and follow-ups).</li><li>Enter journal entries into the accounting system in a timely, accurate and efficient manner;</li><li>Support Finance Team members with data input and processing.</li><li>Under the guidance of Manager, create and update capital asset register.</li><li>Handle day-to-day inquiries from staff, suppliers and vendors.</li><li>Respond in an efficient and timely way to financial information requests.</li><li>Liaise with Fund Development Team for timely and accurately processing of monthly donations.</li><li>Reconcile monthly donations received with Salesforce donation report and Great Plains by fundraising codes.</li><li>Maintain and reconcile monthly pre-paid accounts, advances, Accounts Receivable and Payable and ensure files are properly stored and archived were applicable.</li><li>Prepare and facilitate staff training sessions on invoice and expense payment platform, accounts payable, receivable policies and processes.</li></ul>Program Accounting:<ul><li>Process monthly financial information for Overseas offices and reconciles pertinent accounts;</li><li>In collaboration with program accountants, update, monitor and reconcile project receivables.</li><li>Carry out the analysis of the different items related to accounts payable and ensure year-end reconciliation;</li><li>Collaborate on end-of-month closing in conjunction with the finance team.</li></ul>Reporting:<ul><li>Prepare and submit monthly AR and AP Aging reports.</li><li>Prepare and submit Outstanding Staff Advances reports.</li><li>Assist Finance Team members with various reports as required.</li></ul>Compliance and Audits:<ul><li>Maintain accurate and update-to-date records, ensuring compliance with accounting and Government of Canada standards and regulations.</li><li>Assist team members in preparation of year-end corporate working papers.</li><li>When required, assist program accountants with the preparation of program audit working papers necessary for donor audits.</li></ul>Other tasks and responsibilities as required.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE &amp; COMPETENCIES:<ul><li>Minimum post-secondary 2-year diploma in</li><li>Minimum 2 years’ related experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.</li><li>Excellent English communication (spoken and written) is essential;
