Here, you are welcomed into an inclusive and supportive environment that values each individual's contributions and fosters collective success.Major Responsibilities:Under the direction of the Supervisor of the Mooka’am Team the Children's Mental Health Worker will&nbsp;<ul><li>Ensure all requests for services are processed in a caring, holistic, culturally based, and professional manner consistent with NCFST’s established standards, policies, and procedures.</li><li>Conduct holistic family assessments using the Family Healing Model, co-create goals/objectives with the&nbsp;family, and identify appropriate resources to meet needs including CYW work with Sick Kids Hospital.</li><li>Provide one-to-one child play intervention strategies</li><li>Provide long-term interpersonal counselling with light case management, ongoing support, advocacy, referrals, and culturally based interventions.</li><li>Provide crisis support, advocacy, and group-based services as required</li><li>Spend time with community members and their families to co-create an&nbsp;ongoing support circle.</li><li>Gather collateral information as appropriate from other community service agencies, etc…</li><li>Complete all required documentation including manual records, statistical reporting and input into NCFST’s computerized case management system</li><li>Identify and refer cases to the appropriate resources and supports. Develop partnerships with these resources in service planning</li>	<li>Determine the need for admission of children to care as required. Liaise with Placement Worker regarding placement decisions in order to ensure effective consideration of the child’s specific needs</li>	<li>Coordinate and develop Customary Care Agreements with the family, extended family and community members, and Band representatives</li>	<li>Facilitate ongoing contact between the child and family/extended family/FNMI community. Provide counselling and support to the child and the family during access visits</li>	<li>Intervene on child’s behalf in crisis situations, facilitate the resolution of the crisis, and develop plans in consultation with the child and service providers to reduce the likelihood of the crisis being repeated</li>	<li>Coordinate requirements for court hearings including preparing evidentiary materials, reviewing case information with lawyers, and appearing as a witness if required</li>	<li>Complete case recordings, reports, correspondence, and legal forms</li>	<li>Participate in public communication and education activities</li></ul>Qualifications, Knowledge &amp; Skills:<ul>	<li>B.S.W. from an accredited university, with a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience within a Child and Family Wellbeing context.</li>	<li>Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience in Indigenous family and children issues in a child and family wellbeing context may be considered</li>	<li>A valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle are required for this position</li>	<li>Extensive knowledge of the history and culture of Indigenous Peoples including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit</li>	<li>Ability to provide an acceptable Child Welfare Check with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC)</li>	<li>Knowledge of Child, Youth and Family Services Act, Abuse Protocols, Risk Assessment Model and OnLAC</li>	<li>Knowledge of child development and demonstrated skills in the areas of assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning</li>	<li>Knowledge of the Toronto Indigenous community and history of child welfare in the community.</li>	<li>Excellent written communication; strong verbal communication; organizational skills; ability to multitask and prioritize; initiative and respect for confidentiality</li>	<li>Completed Authorization Training would be an asset&nbsp;</li>	<li>Demonstrated understanding, and commitment to, integrating the Native Child and Family Services of Toronto Mission and values in-to practice, service and relationships</li>	<li>Demonstrated understanding of workplace Health and Safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation</li>	<li>Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, to maintain effective communication and working relationships, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, tact, sensitivity and build strong internal relationships</li></ul>
