Intake Workers provide respectful and compassionate intake, assessment, and support to community members facing barriers such as homelessness, health challenges, substance use, and social isolation. This is a unionized position.Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Complete intake, orientation, and documentation for new service users.</li><li>Serve meals and assist with meal-time clean-up.</li><li>Set up and tear down cots; distribute blankets, pillows, and toiletries.</li><li>Provide referrals and resources, supporting access to healthcare, rehab, detox, and other services.</li><li>Build supportive relationships with service users and contribute to a peaceful environment.</li><li>Apply harm reduction strategies and conflict resolution approaches.</li><li>Contribute to team meetings, documentation, and agency initiatives.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>2+ years supporting vulnerable community members in a shelter or similar setting.</li><li>College Diploma or University Degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.</li><li>Knowledge of shelter standards, community resources, and harm reduction practices.</li><li>First Aid and WHMIS required.</li><li>Strong communication, documentation, and relationship-building skills.</li><li>Familiarity with Breaking Barriers orientation is an asset.</li><li>Clear criminal record check required.</li></ul>How to Apply: Please submit your resume and cover letter to <a href="mailto:wc@conc.ca" target="_blank">wc@conc.ca</a> with the subject line “Warming Centre – Intake Worker” by Friday, Oct. 15, 2023, at 5pm.
