Position SummaryAs the Director - Warehousing and Logistics at the Kamloops Food Bank you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our warehousing, transportation, and logistics processes to facilitate the distribution of food to those in need within our community. Reporting directly to the President and CEO, you will oversee a dedicated team responsible for managing perishable and non-perishable products, transportation, safety, client services, and contribute to our food recovery program, foodSHARE. Your leadership will be instrumental in upholding our mission to alleviate hunger and food insecurity.Major Responsibilities<ol><li>Leadership and Strategic Planning</li></ol><ul><li>Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize warehousing and logistics operations in alignment with the organization's goals and objectives.</li><li>Provide visionary leadership to the team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient coordination and integration of logistics activities.</li><li>Develop and implement strategies to optimize warehouse operations, ensuring maximum efficiency and accuracy in inventory management.</li><li>Monitor and evaluate warehouse performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.</li></ul>2. &nbsp;Logistics Coordination<ul><li>Oversee the planning and execution of transportation and distribution activities to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of food to partner agencies, community distribution points, and smaller food banks in the region.</li><li>Collaborate with transportation providers, negotiate contracts, and establish strong relationships to enhance the overall logistics network.</li><li>Scheduling of all warehouse staff and ensure vacation request are submitted.</li></ul>3. foodSHARE Food Recovery Program<ul><li>Ensure all foodSHARE partners have up to data agreements in place and manage relationships</li><li>Review annual farmer foodSHARE agreements in place and schedule is communicated and followed with all parties.</li><li>Point persons for all changes to the compost program and liaison to Spa Hills.</li></ul>4. Inventory Control<ul><li>Implement and maintain inventory control procedures to minimize waste, spoilage, and product shortages.</li></ul>5. Quality Assurance<ul><li>Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards and implement quality control measures to guarantee the distribution of high-quality food products to recipients.</li><li>Work closely with regulatory agencies to stay informed about food safety and distribution regulations.</li></ul>6. Building Maintenance<ul><li>Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the warehouse facility, including routine inspections, repairs, and improvements.</li><li>Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for facility-related projects and services.</li></ul>7. Regional Communication and Support<ul><li>Serve as the central communication point for smaller food banks in the region, coordinating and facilitating the exchange of information related to inventory, logistics, and best practices.</li><li>Provide logistical support to smaller food banks, ensuring they receive adequate food supplies in a timely manner.</li></ul>8. Transportation and Health &amp; Safety<ul><li>Manage the company vehicle with Warehouse Manager, providing guidance on routing, scheduling, vehicle maintenance, and driver safety.</li><li>Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, including licensing, permits, and vehicle inspections.</li><li>Implement safety protocols and training programs to promote a culture of safety among warehouse and transportation staff.</li><li>Chair the monthly joint health and safety committee meetings.&nbsp;</li></ul>9. Budget Management<ul><li>Develop and manage the department budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and fiscal responsibility.</li><li>Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising the quality of services provided.</li></ul>10. Reporting and Analysis<ul><li>Generate regular reports on warehouse and logistics performance, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.</li><li>Analyze data trends and make data-driven decisions to enhance operational efficiency.</li></ul>Working ConditionsThe Director - Warehousing and Logistics will work both off site and on-site at the food bank facility, engaging with clients, volunteers, and staff. Kamloops Partner Assisted Learning (KPAL) is an adult literacy program that connects volunteer tutors with adult learners seeking to improve their basic skills in reading, writing, math and English communication. KPAL serves learners from a range of backgrounds and life experiences, supporting them on their journey towards greater confidence, independence and opportunity.&nbsp;As a KPAL Adult Literacy Tutor, you will support adult learners in building foundational skills that help them achieve their personal, educational, and employment goals. As a tutor you will provide one-on-one guidance in a safe, respectful environment, creating real change through connection and support. Sessions are learner-centered, focusing on the learner’s goals, whether that’s everyday communication, employment, further education, or personal growth.&nbsp;This is the right role for you if you are someone who:&nbsp;Is empathetic, compassionate, and a good listener&nbsp;&nbsp;Has strong English language and communication skills&nbsp;&nbsp;Is patient and encouraging&nbsp;&nbsp;Likes to teach or mentor others&nbsp;An Adult Literacy Tutor's main tasks are:&nbsp;Meet with a learner (usually 1–2 hours/week) at a library or community space&nbsp;Support goals like reading, writing, basic math, or speaking&nbsp;Keep brief notes and share progress with the Coordinator&nbsp;Join a short orientation and occasional check-ins or trainings&nbsp;Training and ongoing support are provided by KPAL staff.
