About the Event

GLAM AS YOU ARE™ is an elevated, design-forward cocktail fundraiser supporting the Daisy Baby Foundation’s fertility grant for LGBTQIA+ families-in-waiting. In partnership with Grand River Pride, the event blends creativity, hospitality, and purpose while centering inclusivity at every turn.

One of our most important features is the Sensory Lounge — a quiet, low-stimulation space designed to support neurodivergent guests, anxious guests, and anyone who needs a moment to regulate. This role ensures our event remains accessible, grounding, and deeply welcoming for all bodies and brains.

Volunteer Role Available

Sensory Lounge Lead (1 person)

The Role
Not all glamour is loud. As our Sensory Lounge Lead, you’ll bring calm, grounding energy to the heart of the event. You’ll help design and run a restorative, low-stimulation space where guests can reset, regulate, and return to the event feeling supported. You’ll oversee space layout, materials, volunteer guidance, signage tone, and the overall emotional flow of the room.

This role requires emotional intelligence, a gentle presence, and a deep commitment to accessibility and care.

What You’ll Do

Co-design the room layout, lighting, and furnishings for a sensory-friendly environment

Coordinate materials and comfort tools (weighted blankets, soft seating, headphones, signage, etc.)

Lead and support Sensory Lounge volunteers during the event

Guide the tone and writing of signage to welcome neurodivergent and overstimulated guests

Maintain the energy, boundaries, and flow of the space throughout the night

Offer discreet support to guests who may need grounding tools or redirection

You’re Perfect If
You’re emotionally attuned and understand how different nervous systems experience events. Maybe you’re neurodivergent yourself, or you’ve worked in wellness, education, community care, or access-centered roles. You know how to hold quiet space, move gently, and create an environment where people feel safe without explanation.

Bonus Points For

Background in accessibility, education, therapy, social work, or somatic practices

Experience designing or supporting low-stimulation or wellness-focused environments

A calm, grounding presence and the ability to lead volunteers with empathy
