BACKGROUND
In Peel Region, more than 25,000 students attending school face barriers related to poverty that prevent them from fully participating in school. Many students come to school hungry because there’s no food at home. Others lack the necessities like winter clothing or school supplies. Students also face difficult challenges in the home environment where a parent or guardian has lost a job or there’s an emergency that requires a compassionate response.
The Peel Learning Foundation was formed in 2019, to help students overcome these obstacles and have the same chance to succeed in their education as everyone else. Every year, more Peel District School Board students turn to us in their time of need.
Our goal is to raise funds to level the playing field and help students do and achieve more.

The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and delivering the Foundation’s student support programs, including the Student Emergency Needs Program, Student Backpack Program, and new initiatives.
