WHERE YOU COME IN
We are looking for a Director, Data Analytics & Insights to join our team at Make-A-Wish Canada. Reporting to the Vice President, Technology, we are seeking an expert-level leader with strong strategy and analytics skills to establish our Business Intelligence capability. This is a hands-on, strategic individual contributor role. You will act as a thought partner to functional leaders, proactively identifying data-driven opportunities and translating insights into actionable dashboards, financial models, and forecasting tools that support business-critical decisions.
This role can be based out of any MAWC office and is a full-time, hybrid, permanent position.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead the organization’s reporting, analytics, and data governance strategy, ensuring high- quality, consistent data.
- Build and maintain scalable dashboards, data models, and warehousing solutions that support business insights.
- Oversee data architecture and integrations across platforms to ensure interoperability and long-term scalability.
- Drive advanced analytics initiatives, including predictive modeling, automation, and AI/ML applications.
- Act as a strategic advisor to leadership, translating business needs into actionable reports, models, and decision-support tools.
- Champion a data-driven culture and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and meet their analytics needs.
- Establish standardized reporting frameworks, processes, and documentation across the organization.
- Manage the BI project roadmap, ensuring clear priorities, transparency, and timely delivery.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance through strong governance practices and quality oversight.
- Lead, mentor, and develop analytics talent while managing budgets and resources for tools and initiatives.
- Other duties as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of training, education and work experience.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in IT, business analytics, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong expertise in business economics, finance, and decision-making; leads confidently under pressure and motivates teams effectively.
- Deep understanding of IT capabilities with proven strategic thinking in complex settings.
- Skilled negotiator with vendors, suppliers, and consultants to achieve optimal results.
- Able to align business strategy with technical planning and develop compelling business cases to support strategic initiatives.
- Strong background in data analytics, visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and data management.
- Expertise in data analytics tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
- Proven track record in leading innovative initiatives and driving organizational change.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid work model, with 2 days in-office per week and 3 days remote. Occasional requirement to work outside of regular office hours.

- Work under pressure of tight deadlines, balancing high volume workload, and with multiple demands and changing priorities.
