Employment Program Manager

 

Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto (NEW) has been providing holistic support to newcomer women since 1983. We are looking for a dynamic and committed Employment Program Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Employment Program Manager is responsible for directing the daily operations of the NEST and EAP programs at Newcomer Women’s Services Toronto.

 

This is a part-time position at 28 hours (4 days) a week. It is a 4 month contract that will commence December 1st 2009 and finish on March 31st 2010 (contract extension is subject to funding).

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Overseeing management, operations and administration of NEST and EAP employment programs
  • Creating a supportive work environment and supervising a front-line staff team
  • Initiating & maintaining effective relationships with new/current employers to meet the employment needs of our clients
  • Collaborating with NEW staff and Executive Director to supervise outreach, manage the program budget and program planning
  • Developing excellent working relationships with community partners in Scarborough
  • Monitoring labour market trends and services available in the community
  • Ensuring strict compliance with funder contribution agreements
  • Compiling accurate data collection and reporting to program funders

o       May require travel to and work at other program sites on occasion.

o       Other related duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications

Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education

Demonstrated experience in project management and supervising staff teams

Group facilitation and/or adult education experience

Desire to work in a diverse setting within an anti-oppression/anti-discrimination framework

Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment with limited supervision.

Well organized team player who is able to take initiative, manage change/transitions with the ability to prioritize and multi-task

Advanced skills utilizing all Microsoft Applications including Excel and PowerPoint

Knowledge of issues, trends and legislation in the employment field and the labour market

Fluency in English, and the ability to speak another language
