Job Accommodation Specialist

Scope of Position:
The Job Accommodation Specialist will case manage requests pertaining to employees with disabilities requiring workplace accommodations. As part of the JAS team, they will have a portfolio of cases they will manage from open to close.
The incumbent will provide consulting, counseling, and advice in the field of accessibility, stakeholders’ roles and responsibilities during the accommodation process, as well as be able to complete worksite evaluations.
Responsibilities:
· Provide analysis for a disability-related accommodation situation by telephone, e-mail, facsimile or other communication to Managers, other authorized clients staff and the employee with a disability (review reports produced by the assessors, liaise with employer-client to discuss recommendations and provide advice, research questions related to disability posed by JAS clients)
· Complete intake by telephone with the employee and the manager to identify challenges or concerns in the performance of the job tasks
· Refer onsite assessments to qualified professionals from the CCRW Canada-wide network
· Case manage each assessment from the start to completion ensuring follow-up (research and screen suitable assessors, draft agreements with assessors)
- Maintain electronic filing system of all JAS files
- Perform program evaluations with users of the JAS
- Identify business opportunities and write proposals
- Work closely with the Director, Job Accommodation Service to deliver, develop, evaluate, and expand the JAS and market the JAS service to potential clients
Qualifications:
- University degree or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience in the field of accessibility and inclusion. Work in the field of ergonomics and worksite evaluations is a definite asset. Preference will be given to those with experience in ergonomics
- Excellent knowledge of Inclusion and Human Rights issues. Expertise in the field of ergonomics, disability and work i.e. disability management; legislation; attitudinal, physical and systematic barriers faced by persons with disabilities; as well as available services and goods to assist individuals with disabilities in an employment situation
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English, French is an asset
- fully proficient in MS Office applications
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
- Strong influencing, consultative and diplomatic skills
- Ability to multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Outstanding analytical and research skills
- Confident professional, thoughtful, assertive, polished, enthusiastic, team player Action oriented, results oriented, self-motivated, works independently as well as part of a team
