POSITION: JSW JOB SEARCH COACH/EMPLOYER OUTREACH SPECIALIST

 

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:            The Job Search Workshop Program assists Internationally Trained Professionals to find employment in their fields through the delivery of Day time, Evening and Saturday workshops. Follow up services include individual employment counselling, job search coaching and mentoring coaching, job development support through work experience placements and paid positions..

 

POSITION PURPOSE:  To provide job search coaching support to JSW clients and to assist them to find work experience placements and paid positions through direct contact with employers.

 

REPORTS TO:  JSW Program Coordinator

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

·        Provide job search coaching and counselling to JSW clients

·        Assist clients on an individual basis with resumes, cold calling, career goals and interviews

·        Conduct mock interviews with clients

·        Assist clients with developing a list of potential employers

·        Develop, implement and revise as necessary an effective marketing strategy to build employer contacts

·        Arrange Work Experience Placements, monitor the placement and ensure all paper work is completed including WEP insurance

·        Conduct outreach to employers and market clients to prospective employers

·         Liaise with the Job development unit of Skills for Change in contacting employers, following up on job leads/placements

·        Maintain statistics on job development activities including follow-up and reporting as required

·        Coordinate on-site job fairs and recruitment sessions for clients

·        Participate in the organization of job fairs and external committees

·        Attend external job fairs to market projects and services to clients and employers

·        Research and collect up-to-date labour market information and communicate findings to JSW staff and clients

·        Participate in the updating of project information for agency marketing (including website and e-newsletter)

·        Work as part of the JSW team and our community partners to ensure smooth delivery and coordination of services to clients

·        Participate in team meetings, staff meetings and committee meetings as required

·        Participate in program evaluation and evaluation of employment development work at Skills for Change and present solutions to enhance service

·        Handle other related tasks as required by Coordinator and Manager of Programs and Services

 

OUTCOMES:

·        Job search coaching support and employer outreach support will be provided to360  clients per year

·        Work Experience Placements will be secured for 30 clients per year

·        Outreach and marketing to employers resulting in strong employer relationship.

 

·        SKILLS, EDUCATION & ATTRIBUTES:

 

·        Post-secondary degree in related discipline and/or equivalent work experience in job development, recruitment or sales

·         Minimum of two years experience in coaching and facilitating and employment placement initiatives

·        Demonstrated ability in business acumen, recruitment strategies and marketing to employers through various sales approaches

·        Ability to work in a computerized environment using Windows and MS office

·        Knowledge of Access an asset

·        Knowledge of labour market trends, licensing requirements

·        Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills

·        Problem-solving and resourceful

·        Sensitivity to, and understanding of, issues of concern to immigrants and refugees

·        Team player positive attitude towards change

·        Initiative, energy, and persistence to get the job done

·        Ability to work daytime with some evening and Saturday hours

·        Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle is an asset

 

TIME REQUIRED:   A 35-hour week, Monday- Friday, with occasional evening and/or weekend hours

 

WORK LOCATION: Toronto                                                            GRADE: 3

 

SALARY RANGE: $44,390 – $47,390  annually                        START DATE: Immediately
