New status and roles for women impacts philanthropy

In their new book entitled Reinventing Fundraising, authors Sondra C. Shaw and Martha A. Taylor, make the following predictions for the next five years:
- Women will take greater control of their own resources.
- Women will make increasingly larger philanthropic gifts.
- Most organizations and institutions will establish women's leadership and giving programs.
- Nonprofit boards will become more balanced with respect to gender.
- A new style of capital campaign will be developed to encourage sharing relationships and responsibility rather than competition.
- Women's funds, women's political groups, and grassroots organizations will continue to gain the support of women.
- Women will leverage their gifts to ensure that their interests and values are matched with their philanthropic dollars.
- Women will assume top philanthropic leadership positions as volunteer fundraisers and development officers.
- As women move into decision-making positions within corporations, they will direct corporate giving toward programs addressing issues that reflect their values.
- Women will insist that greater accountability be established and publicized by institutions and organizations.
