| Marilyn has worked in estate/gift planning since 1989 in both the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors, and is currently an independent gift planning consultant. Most recently Marilyn was Development & Donor Services Director at Vancouver Foundation where she worked with donors (individuals, corporations and community organizations) and their advisors to establish and administer endowed and other funds.
Before arriving at Vancouver Foundation, Marilyn practised wills and estates law, worked in the trust services industry, and over a six year period, established and developed a planned giving program for a major hospital foundation.
Marilyn is an experienced teacher and presenter for organizations such as the British Columbia Institute of Technology, the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP*ADPDP™), and the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia. She has most recently used her teaching abilities with CharityVillage.com as a designer of its online planned giving course.
Marilyn is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, Vancouver Wills & Trusts Section; the Estate Planning Council of Vancouver; and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. She has held various volunteer positions with the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and is a Past Chair of LEAVE A LEGACY™ British Columbia.
In her spare time, Marilyn keeps active with golf, curling and running. However, she is also an avid reader and enjoys hanging out with her feline house mates, Zorro and Zoe. |
