  A national charitable organization dedicated to advancing the role and interests of the charitable sector for the benefit of Canadian communities. Highlights of the site include The Canadian Directory to Foundations & Grants and an Information Centre featuring material from the organization's publications.

• CharityVillage Human Resources Management page

  A collection of tools and reference information designed for those whose jobs involve important management tasks and functions.

• Center for Nonprofit Management

  CNM helps nonprofit organizations enhance their results by providing educational services, consultation, and information.

• Centre for Cultural Management

  Located at the University of Waterloo, the centre provides leadership in cultural management education and research.

• Communications Toolkit

  Provided by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, this toolkit helps nonprofit organizations determine the strengths and weaknesses of both their internal and external communications activities.

• CommunityWealth.org

  An online resource to explore and discuss topics such as: nonprofit/for-profit partnerships; cause-related marketing; social entrepreneurship; venture philanthropy; and nonprofit business ventures.

• Conference Board of Canada

  A group of Canadian business, government and public-sector organizations that develop and exchange knowledge about organizational strategies and practices, emerging economic and social trends and key public policy issues.

• Creative Resourcing Network

  Offers civil society activists and social entrepreneurs strategies in local fundraising, volunteer management, income generation schemes, and constituency development to assist in building sustainable organizations. It is a place to go for information, ideas, and dialogue with practitioners from around the globe on creative strategies for mobilizing resources locally, rather than having to live from one grant to the next or to be dependent on international assistance. The network offers case studies, strategies, references, and an electronic discussion group.

• EmpowerWeb

• Free Management Library

  A massive collection of articles on a wide range of nonprofit topics, compiled by Carter McNamara.

• Heartland Center for Leadership Development

  An independent, nonprofit organization developing local leadership that responds to the challenges of the future, with a major focus on practical resources and public policies for rural community survival.

• Idealist

  Works through the Internet and through local chapters to promote and facilitate collaboration, volunteerism and investment in support of building a world where all people can live free, dignified and productive lives.

• IKnow.org

  A helpful series of links to strategic planning resources on the web.

• Independent Sector

  A national leadership forum, working to encourage philanthropy, volunteering, not-for-profit initiative and citizen action that help us better serve people and communities.

• Innovation Network, Inc. (InnoNet)

  Offers tools to help your nonprofit with planning, evaluation and fundraising. InnoNet has two services: a search service to find model programs and an evaluation service that guides agencies through a planning and evaluation process.

• International Center for Not-for-Profit Law

  An international organization whose mission is to facilitate and support the development of civil society on a global basis by assisting the creation and improvement of laws and regulatory systems that permit, encourage, and regulate the not-for-profit sector in countries around the world.

• Internet NonProfit Center

  A project of The Evergreen State Society of Seattle, Washington, it offers information for and about nonprofit organizations in the United States. The site includes "Nonprofit FAQ" -- information on a wide range of topics of interest to leaders and managers of nonprofit organizations.

• Leadership Knowledge Base

  A resource site with links to articles and web sites focusing on a wide variety of topics relating to effective leadership.
  

• Lessons Learned: A Planning Toolsite

  There are two components of this toolsite from the National Endowment for the Arts: a series of essays about the process of planning; and actual illustrations of organizational change within arts organizations.

• National Center for Charitable Statistics

  The national repository of data on the nonprofit sector in the United States. It is a program of the Urban Institute's Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy, and its mission is to develop and disseminate high quality data on nonprofit organizations and their activities.

• National Center for Nonprofit Boards

  The National Center for Nonprofit Boards (NCNB) is dedicated to increasing the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening their boards of directors.

• National Technical Assistance Registry (NTAR)

  A bilingual, multi-purpose information resource -- skills and expertise for arts and heritage organizations seeking change. Find help on change as radical as developing a revised mission and a whole new set of programs, or as routine as developing a new fund-raising campaign or a new marketing plan, or updating the human resources policy.

• NetAction

  A national, non-profit organization dedicated to educating the public, policy makers, and the media about technology-based social and political issues, and to teaching activists how to use the Internet for organizing, outreach, and advocacy.

• Nonprofit Ethics

  A collection of articles, links and resources for those interested in the ethical challenges faced in the world of nonprofit organizations.

• Nonprofit Genie

  This helpful site from the Support Center for Nonprofit Management contains nearly 100 articles on subjects ranging from Board Development and Fundraising to Strategic Planning and Volunteer Management.

• Nonprofit Resource Center

  A directory for Internet resources of interest and value to Nonprofit organizations, provided as a service of Nonprofit Incorporators, a law firm.

• Nonprofit Zone

  The Nonprofit Zone provides free tools and resources to help nonprofits, including a library of articles and answers on all sorts of issues which nonprofits deal with every day.

• Nonprofnet

  A collection of philanthropy-related information provided by Program on Nonprofit Corporations, Faculty of Business, Queensland University of Technology.

• Not-for-profit Administration Web Site

  Produced by Cowperthwaite Mehta Chartered Accountants in Toronto, the site holds a wide range of resources for Canadian charities and nonprofits including information about the Year 2000 problem, accounting, childcare, financial management, governance and much more.

• Nuts and Bolts

  A series of articles and links to resource on a wide range of nonprofit and volunteer management issues from CASAnet, a resource for court appointed special advocates.

• Partnership Handbook

  Developed by the University of Arizona for their department of agriculture, the Partnership Handbook is a resource and guidebook for community-based partnership groups addressing natural resource, land use, or environmental issues.

• Payton Philanthropic Studies Library

  This Library's comprehensive coverage of fund raising, voluntarism, and nonprofit organization management can be located throughout this Web site as well as in various other formats including microfilm, microfiche, monographs (books), video, and audio cassettes. The collection of dissertations in paper format is one of the largest of its kind in an academic library.

• Phillip Walker's Home Page

  Walker started this site in 1994 as a personal to catalogue Internet sites that may benefit nonprofits and those interested in a wide variety of issues. It includes a heavy emphasis on meta-links to other catalogues in a particular subject area which may have more comprehensive links on any one topic.

• Skills Training for Community & Non-Profit Organizations

  A diverse collection of resources developed as a volunteer and activist training manual for Toronto's Community Bicycle Network by Regan McClure.

• Society for Nonprofit Organizations

  Works to serve as a resource for board members, paid staff, and volunteers who lead or help nonprofit organizations all around the world.

• SWOT Analysis

  American fundraising consultant Jeane Vogel has a handy reference feature to help your organization perform a SWOT situation analysis -- look at your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to help plan where you're going.
