Chip and Ralfie Blasius have compiled their own experiences in the field into a useful basic resource book for grassroots nonprofit management and fundraising.
With a focus on grassroots programs, they offer numerous sample pages and worksheets, including budget sheets, Form 990 samples, a 501 (c)(3) exemption application and other helpful tools for beginners.
Covering off the wide range of fundraising options, they offer an introduction to the elements of direct mail, telemarketing, grant writing, events, and even planned giving. Most coverage is cursory, but they do offer some handy basic advice and useful inserts such an application for bulk third class mailing rates, sample pledge sheets, and recipes to make your bake sales even more tasty.
The book also includes a compendium of fundraising ideas and, for each idea, includes a description of the event, as well as supplies and equipment, and the human resources required to make it a success.
Fundraise Painlessly is a good basic primer for grassroots organizations in need of fresh ideas, or those that want a basic introduction to the wide array of fundraising options available.
