Meet Caroline Veldhuis
Caroline has nearly two decades of experience in the nonprofit sector, having held numerous contracts across communications, direct service, volunteer development and organizational management. She has worked with national charitable organizations including Seva Canada, Oxfam Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada. In the arts, she was the first marketing coordinator and first guest relations coordinator for the Hot Docs Documentary Festival and became part of the management team as its first communications manager, charged with overseeing the marketing, communications and publicity through the festival's dramatic growth from 2002 to 2004. She was also Marketing Manager for the 2009 Adelaide Film Festival in Adelaide, Australia.
As a writer and editor, Caroline has published in a range of magazines and newspapers including The Toronto Star and The Globe and Mail; served as an editor on the Canadian Cancer Encyclopedia; and was international editor at the international office of Médecins Sans Frontières in Geneva, Switzerland (2006-2008). Her writing work spans feature articles, reviews, book segments, video scripts, educational materials, funding proposals and ghosting for EDs and CEOs. She has a particularly strong interest in issues related to mental health and immigration.
Caroline holds degrees in English and Psychology with High Distinction from the University of Toronto and has completed graduate courses in transcultural psychiatry at McGill University.
