How do Canadian charities derive their revenue?

Government grants account for 49% of most charities' revenues. Earned Income, including: charitable gaming (1%); membership fees (11%); fees for goods and services (20%) and investment incomes (including interest) (4%) accounts for 35% of revenues. Private giving from individuals (8%) and gifts from other charities (2%) accounts for 10% of revenues on average. (Source: Statistics Canada, Survey of Nonprofit and Voluntary Organizations, 2004)
